Emotional Mess

Emotional Mess revolves around 3 characters and addresses the hurt and confusion resulting from lack of communication. Two characters are in the “talking phase” of a relationship, and the amount of loyalty warranted is unclear. The character Evelyn is making the situation difficult due to her indecisiveness while Adam is impatient and asks another girl, Tara, to dinner. Tara is friends with both, and is caught in the middle of their relationship issues.

Scene 1 reveals the tender emotions resulting from the situation and gives Adam’s character opportunity to explain his point of view, Scene 2 explores the feelings of Tara’s character as she rants about the situation, and Scene 3 examines the relationship between Tara’s character and Evelyn, Valerie’s character, and how their friendship is affected by the love triangle.

The scenes were premiered and recorded by Valerie Dzielski, Adam Chase, and Tara Dougherty at the Peabody Conservatory in 2022.
