Shadow

While composing Shadow, I was interested in a sense of fragmentation, a sense that each section occurs in medias res, ends too soon, or gets caught in a dead-end. The title is derived from the manifestations of the concept of a shadow—through musical imitation, mimicry, and the evocation of music of the past.

Shadow was composed for andPlay duo, and was premiered by them on April 8th, 2026 at the Peabody Conservatory.
