Tenderbox

Instrumentation: 6 tenor trombones, 2 bass trombones

Tenderbox is a work for trombone octet–An original poem, “When I see you my heart aches,” serves as the foundation of the piece. The poem was written during a very emotional time in my life, and I was writing in a raw, direct style unhindered by language or allegory.

“Tenderbox” was composed in 2021 the Baylor Trombone Studio and was premiered in Jones Concert Hall. The piece was revised in 2022 and performed at the International Trombone Festival by the CU Boulder Trombone Ensemble in 2025.
